The Rosslyn Safari tented camp presents a unique feeling of camping with all the luxuries of a lodge room. As one of the earliest fully tented luxury camps in Zimbabwe, based on Kenyan design and style, each tent provides comforts such as hot water, flush toilets, electricity and delicious warm beds courtesy of electric blankets. Each tent is positioned under the large trees in the camp garden, with privacy guiding the outlook – often a Bush Buck can be seen grazing in the quiet of the garden nearby or a herd of Eland walking towards the watering hole in front of the camp.
We recently embarked on an upgrade of the camp, lifting the tents to create bigger, lighter and airier rooms. The floors are tiled and have beautiful skin rugs, rather than the original canvas floors. The same goes for the light fittings, which are styled from horns found on the ranch and items made by local craftsmen. The bathrooms have been upgraded, and a fabulous fun shower installed. So, while the original style and feel of the camp remains intact, our clients love the updated amenities.
Should your book be calling you, then sit on the handmade teak deck in front of the camp. The animals walking past will distract you and the birds calling in the nearby trees will entertain you. The plunge pool has a clear view of the watering hole, giving you the option of a peaceful swim under the African sky or a languorous sunbathe while sipping on a delicious drink. Its clear blue waters are maintained by the discreet grounds-staff.
The Great Hall is where magnificent meals are served around a gorgeous rail-teak table and riveting conversations held around the fireplace. The beautiful animal horns on the wall reflect our love of wildlife around the world, representing animals found on the ranch as well as Europe and North America. The well-stocked drinks table and bookcases full of interesting wildlife related books and magazines make this a room in which to truly relax.
